Over 5,800 New Seats Installed at Pat McGrane Stand | Clones, Co. Monaghan | Completed April 2025
As part of a two-phase renewal project at Ulster’s iconic St. Tiernach’s Park, we completed the installation of 5,800+ new Link Mirage spectator seats in the Pat McGrane Stand.
This followed a successful Phase 1 stadium seating upgrade of 5,400 seats in 2023. The project involved full removal of existing wooden benches, supply of two-colour Mirage seating, and installation by Magcon Engineering.

Before: Timeworn Timber Benches
The original seating in this stand – a mix of aged wooden benches – had served its purpose through many seasons, but was showing significant wear. Cracked timber, weather damage, and aging fixtures meant that a full replacement was both necessary and timely.

After: A Stand Transformed!
The project began with the removal of all existing seating and preparation of the stand’s concrete terraces. Our new seating system, the Link Mirage model, was delivered securely packaged and ready for installation. Featuring a durable, fan-friendly design, these seats are built for longevity and aesthetic appeal.
Each seat was supplied in one of two colour variants, giving the stand a fresh, dynamic look that reflects the pride and identity of the venue.

Delivery & Preparation
The project began with the removal of all existing seating and preparation of the stand’s concrete terraces. Our new seating system, the Link Mirage model, was delivered securely packaged and ready for installation. Featuring a durable, fan-friendly design, these seats are built for longevity and aesthetic appeal.
The second phase of the St. Tiernach’s Park upgrade began with the careful removal of the existing timber seating and benches, some of which had been in place for decades. Once cleared, the concrete terraces of the Pat McGrane Stand were thoroughly prepared to ensure a clean, level surface for the new seating system. This foundational work was key to guaranteeing a precise and secure installation.
Soon after, our team coordinated the delivery of over 5,800 Link Mirage seats to the site. Arriving safely in protective packaging and palletised units, the seating components were organised for efficient on-site handling and installation. Every element of the seating system—from mounting brackets to backrests—was delivered with care to minimise delays and maximise safety.
The Link Mirage model was selected for its proven combination of durability, user comfort, and sleek modern design. Engineered for high-footfall venues like GAA stadiums, these seats feature UV resistance, weather resilience, and low-maintenance construction, making them ideal for long-term use in all conditions.
A defining feature of this installation was the choice to use two alternating seat colours—a design decision made to enhance visual identity and breathe new life into the stand’s appearance. The final result reflects the vibrancy and pride of the local sporting community, while maintaining a clean, professional look from every angle.

Installation: A Team Effort!
With the seating system delivered and the terraces fully prepped, our experienced installation team—led by Gary Maguire of Magcon Engineering—began work on-site at the Pat McGrane Stand. Having previously overseen the successful delivery of Phase 1 in 2023, Gary and his team brought deep knowledge of the venue, its layout, and the logistical requirements unique to this location.
The installation process was carried out with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring each of the 5,800+ Link Mirage seats was securely mounted using high-spec fixings and supports. Rows were aligned for optimal sightlines and uniform spacing, while aisle access and safety clearances were maintained in line with current stadium regulations.
The team maintained steady progress through a carefully phased schedule that allowed for maximum efficiency without compromising quality. Close coordination between our supply chain, engineering team, and on-site crew ensured that all components were installed accurately and on time.
What sets this installation apart is not just the quantity of seating—but the quality of finish. The two-colour seat layout was executed exactly to plan, adding a striking visual dynamic to the Pat McGrane Stand while showcasing the consistency and precision of the installation.
By project completion, the team had transformed a worn-out spectator area into a safe, modern and welcoming space—ready to serve fans for many seasons to come.

After: A Stand Transformed!
The transformation of the Pat McGrane Stand at St. Tiernach’s Park marks a major step forward in the venue’s long-term renewal. With 5,800+ new Link Mirage seats now in place—adding to the 5,400 installed in Phase 1—the entire spectator experience has been elevated to modern standards of comfort, durability, and design.
From the removal of worn timber benches to the precise installation of colour-coordinated seating, every stage of this project reflects our commitment to quality, reliability, and collaboration. The final result is a stand that not only meets the practical needs of fans but also celebrates the vibrant spirit of the local sporting community.
We’re honoured to have once again partnered with Ulster GAA, and proud to see our products enhancing the match-day experience for thousands of spectators.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all involved—our logistics and design teams, site coordinators, and especially Gary Maguire and the Magcon Engineering crew for their expert installation.
We look forward to continuing to support projects that enrich community venues across Ireland and the UK.
